We Took A Trip: Part 1

It has been a while since we went on vacation. We've had little weekend get-aways here and there, but it has been 3 years since Kenny and I have taken a week off work to go on a trip.

We were finally able to take time off and we decided to head south. San Antonio, here we come! On our way, we made a couple of stops- once to see some dinos (Beckett was in heaven) and once for some good BBQ (Ryan loves ribs- who knew?)!

This dinosaur place came as a big surprise! We knew there was some sort of dinosaur attraction, we had talked about it with Kenny's cousin Laliah.  When I looked it up online I saw that there was a river with real dino footprints and 2 life sized dinosaur models. So, we thought this would be a quick trip to stretch our legs and break up the long drive. Well, we ended up stumbling upon Dinosaur World! A mile long walk with dozens of life sized dinosaur models to see. Beckett was so excited he ran the entire way. He would stop, say the name of the dinosaur and then run to the next one!

I am so glad we stopped here! We will for sure be going back- hopefully with the Hoskin's family. I can totally see Savannah and Beckett running through the park together!

All that driving can really make you hungry. We had to stop and get Rudy's BBQ. I think it's a "must" when in Texas :)

When we finally arrived in San Antonio we were all so happy to get out of the car! It was even better because we stayed at an amazing place. Hyatt's Wild Oak Ranch was perfect for the kids! We would absolutely stay here again!!

I showed Beckett the Honeysuckle. We had to stop and see it every time we walked out of our room.

Our room was the perfect size. It had a full kitchen, separate bedroom and plenty of space for the kids to play.

The grounds were beautiful! There was a putting green and lots of places to sit and relax in the shade.

There were 2 pools. One was a lazy river that had a sand area to play in. The other was a shallow pool that didn't get more than 4 and a half feet deep. This pool also had a shallow wading section that was great for the kids to walk around in and play.

All to ourself! We got there early in the morning.
Ryan's favorite was the river. She loved floating around and around. Beckett's favorite was the shallow pool. He liked being able to stand up and walk around in the water.

Another fun feature of the ranch was the S'more Factory every night (we only went down once). You could go down to the fire pit and roast marshmallows and eat s'mores! Ryan was busy running around, Kenny was chasing her, and Beckett and I were enjoying our dessert!

One night there was even a dance party. The kids were cracking us up!

We really didn't plan much of anything for this trip. We knew the hotel would be a place we could spend most of our time and relax- which is exactly what we did. The only thing we really wanted to do was go to Sea World... that post is coming soon...
